1 Direct democracy— in which the people directly vote on the laws and decisions instead of simply electing the representatives of the parties who them decide the government stuff.
In this system the government serves only to administrat the country and enforce what the peopled decided.
2 Indirect or Representative democracy— this is what exists today in the majority of countries. Here the people elect representaives from political parties ( ministers, presidents, deputies) who them make the laws and proposals in a parliament.
3 Elected dictatorship— Its a system in which the people elect a dictator or king to rule a country for a long period of time or until he is imcapable of ruling eficiently. When it is a king , it can be the nobles or a class to elect them.

Democracy offers protection to the interests of the citizens. Citizens have a right to weigh in on political, economical and social issues in the society.
Democracies also have sharing of power and this prevents monopoly of authority
