Brakes on a car use friction to stop the vehicles. Since friction is a resistance force that slows down or prevents motion, it is necessary in many applications to prevent slipping or sliding. Friction between the sole of a shoe and the surface of the ground prevents us from slipping.

Friction play a very important role in our daily life. Friction between surfaces provides a grip or hold which keeps the surfaces together.

Cars and buses are able to move on the road because of friction between the tyres and the road surface.
