Advantages of coalition government are :-

1) It ensures one party cannot be in complete power and the chances of authoritarianism is reduced.

2) Coalition governments require many parties to come together and come out with a common program. This is beneficial as people clearly know what the government will do.

3) Coalition governments would include national and regional parties. This ensures regional aspirations are met, since a coalition govt. has to consider the needs of regional parties.

4) Even if a coalition government is formed by opposing parties, they need to arrive at a common minimum program. This again helps people know what the govt. will do and what it won’t.
