What are the advantages of the great granary of the Indus valley civilization

Historians believe that the Great Granary was used by the people of Harappa to store surplus food grains. There were two rows of granaries and each row had six granaries. A similar structure has also been found at Mohenjodaro. All such granaries were built close to the river bank for the convenience of transportation.
