Corrosion is the destructive attack of a material by electo/chemical reaction with its environment. For most of us, corrosion is the degradation of metals that is often called rust. The corrosion resistance of any material depends on the environment to which it is exposed.

due to corrosion large amount of iron gets wasted every year which leads to economic loss

the product cannot be used again

if like bridges,railways etc. are corroded it may lead upto an accident
