Food chain a sequence of the living organisms in which the nutrients and the energy pass from one organism to the other organism when they eat them.

Food chain involves different trophic levels which consist of primary producers, primary consumers, secondary consumers and tertiary consumers.

Let us take examples of the organisms to explain the effects of the ecosystem if one of the trophic level is missed.

Let us consider grass as a primary producer, sheep as a primary consumer, tiger as a secondary consumer and eagle as tertiary consumers.

Here let us assume grass as a primary producer is been dried up, so the sheep would not get any food as it totally depends upon the grass, so due to this secondary and the tertiary consumers will also be starved, which in turn effects the ecosystem
