Joules law : This law governs the heating effect of current as heat energy released by a conductor when current passes through it. If the conductor is having resistance R and current I passes through it for time t, the heat energy dissipated, Q = I^2 X R X t.

There are many practical uses of Joule heating. They are :-

An incandescent light bulb glows when the filament is heated by Joule heating, due to thermal radiation blackbody radiation.

Electric fuses are used as a safety, breaking the circuit by melting if enough current flows to melt them

The heating effect of current is utilised in the working of electric heating appliances such as electric iron, electric kettle, electric toaster, electric oven, room heaters, geysers, etc
