Answer:

Well, obviously computers are some of the products of EE. Here, off the top of my head are some of the uses of computers in actually doing EE or as products EE’s create. I have deliberately emphasized hybrid applications, where EE’s use computers to accomplish design and operational EE tasks and as products for others to use.

CAD (multiple types)

Mechanical - designing power lines, building wiring, etc.

Electrical - modeling transmission lines

Electronic - PCB schematic capture and board layout

VLSI - design, modeling and simulation of integrated circuits

Control Systems, often embedded

Control of power grids

Integrated circuit manufacturing machines

Medical devices - pacemakers, heart monitors, dialysis machines, x-ray machines, MRI machines, etc.

Networking - routers, manageable switches, etc.

Internet of Things (IoT) nodes - home automation, appliances, security and safety monitoring systems

Management Systems

Integrated circuit manufacturing plants/facilities

Automated assembly lines - iPhones, computers, soda bottling plants, etc.

In reality, there are very few tasks that EE’s perform which do not involve computers at least to facilitate design and test of the product the EE is working on. Computers, commonly as embedded systems, are also routinely part of the products EE’s create.
