In this poem Tagore portrays a moving picture of our nation, he would like India to be. He wants his country to be free from any oppression or forced compulsion. He wants everyone in his country should have the liberty to raise their heads high with dignity. He dreams of a nation where knowledge and education would be free for every section of the society, not only the upper classes but also the poor people should have the right to educate themselves.There should not be any caste or gender discrimination.  He dreams of a nation free from all the prejudices, and people should strive to leave behind the old tradition.
