Answer: A student may have to deal with lots of problems when his native language is different from school language. It brings in stress, criticism and lots of input to cross the barrier between home language and language used in school.

Some of the imperative factors that are responsible for these language barriers are:-

1. COMMAND OVER NATIVE LANGUAGE - It is important for a student to have a good command over his/her own language that he/she had been learning since learnt to communicate.

For a kid, it takes around 12 years to learn a language when you learn words and vocabulary for the first time. So a student must first be fluent in their own language, so it becomes easier to translate or communicate while learning a new language in school.

2. FEAR OF CRITICISM - Mostly students at school fear bully and criticism, thus learning a new language can open a whole lot of doors for criticism.

Students think they need to have precise knowledge and information about anything they want to convey in this new language or they will be ridiculed for it.

They also have moments of doubt whether the word chosen by them would affect cultural sentiments of a language in some way.

Such moments of self-doubt and ambiguities also contribute to escalating language barriers in school.

3. PARENTS - The role of parents is very important in helping their feeling comfortable and confident at school. If the parental background had been devoid of the new language in school; they might not be able to help their kids in homework.

If parents have no idea about this language they would even skip meetings and conversations with teachers and school authorities.

This would create a wrong and negative picture in the kid's mind regarding the new language; eventually leading them to drop out of school.

Answer:

For students who have migrated to a different place having a different language, learning can be a daunting task especially because that’s not their native language.

It becomes difficult for them to cope up with local culture and learning barriers.

However, this can be overcome by the teachers and parents support.

Using visual techniques, inducing student discussion, sentence and writing frames, interactive learning games can be some of the ways that can help in overcoming learning barriers.
