What is meaning of growth?

Growth is the increase in size of tissues or organs or parts of a individual.

Growth can also be defined as the increment of number of cells in the body.

Growth is depended on metabolism, and the word metabolism refers to the chemical reactions taking place in the body.

Metabolism is includes anabolism and catabolism.

Case 1

When they rate of anabolism that is synthesis process occurs higher than the rate of catabolism then there is increment in growth as positive growth of an organism.

Case 2

But when the rate of catabolism, that is destructive process is more than the rate of anabolism then there is negative growth.

Growth in organism is classified into two types :-

1. Determinate growth:- This is the growth that occurs inside the body of an organism.

2. Indeterminate growth:- This is the growth that occurs outside that is accumulation of substances over the surface and mostly occurs in non-living organisms.
