            Democracy                                   Monarchy

Equality of people/citizen.    All citizen are not equal.  Some are superior.

Rule by people or representatives.      Rule by king/Queen/Monarch.

Rulers are elected.         Rulers are hereditary/Selected by current monarch.

Free, fair & periodic Elections.            No elections.

All citizen have fundamental rights.     Rights are controlled or limited.

Media has full freedom.                       Media is controlled.

Written constitution is followed.        No constitution perhaps.
                                                          Could be a constitutional monarchy.

Freedom of rights, speech                    Limited freedom

Protection by police/army                 Police/army's first job is to protect monarch.

Government officials are elected/         Officials may be appointed directly.
appointed through open tests.

India, USA are examples.              UK (Limited monarchy), Saudi Arabia, UAE
