Hey there!

_________

Question: what are the benefits of symbiotic association shown by a leguminous plant a root nodule.

Symbiotic relationship or symbiosis is a type of interaction where two organisms help each other in order to fulfill their needs of survival or get benefited. Symbiosis occurs in plants and animals. One such symbiotic relationship in plants is the Lichens. Lichens is a term used for the combination of a fungus and an alga. Here, the fungus provides shelter to the alga and in return the alga provides food which it produces through photosynthesis. In this way we can see a symbiotic relationship in the lichens.

Leguminous plants: Plants which have the rhizobium bacteria in their root nodules are termed as Leguminous plants. They belong to the family leguminosae. Examples of such leguminous plant is pea, gram, Rajma, bean etc.

_______________

Answer: The benefits of symbiotic association by a leguminous plant with the bacteria present in the root nodules is the plant provides shelter and food to the rhizobia and in return the rhizobium bacteria helps the plant with nitrogenous compounds which it converts in soluble form for the plant to replenish with nitrogen and the plant will be provided with protein.
