Answer:
In order to grasp the basics of Quantum Mechanics, you will need the mathematical tools as well as an insight to gain for the theory. I recommend Principles of Quantum Mechanics by Ramamurthy Shankar . It will give you the required mathematical background in the initial sections for Linear algebra there. Make sure you solve those questions, get accustomed to the bra and ket notation, probability densities and other relevant concepts.
Once you have the mathematical tools, which even this book provides, you can go for Introduction to Quantum Mechanics by David J Griffiths. Here the the theory till Harmonic Oscillator should suffice for a beginner’s course. You'll only grasp it well if the questions are solved, though you cannot expect yourself to crack all the questions in the chapters of this book.
I also recommend you to check the video lectures by Leonard Susskind.
I am B.Tech Physics & Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Madras so I will recommed these books
