The force of gravitation between the earth and the sun and the moon results in the emergence of tides.
Now, here's how all this happens
According to the Third Law of Motion
Every act made on an object has an equal and opposite reaction on the same object.
So, when the earth exerts a gravitational force on the nearby celestial bodies in return those celestial bodies also exert this force of gravitation against the earth.
Hence, this push and pull condition actually creates a sudden movement and the loose particles of liquid like sea water shakes which causes tides.
Another cause of the emergence of tides can be the movement and force of winds created by the forces between the earth and celestial bodies.
