\huge\bold\pink{↬}Air pollution refers to harmful toxins found in the air and that can pollute the air that one breathes. There are two possible ways in which air pollution is caused. One is man-made and the other is natural. Man-made air pollution refers to the harmful smoke emitted out of factories while naturally, it can affect the air through the smoke that is emitted by burning wood or coal.

\huge\bold\pink{↬}However, most of the pollution is said to come from the energy we use and produce such as factories or smoke emitted from vehicles. So what are the other major causes of air pollution? There are many other major causes of air pollution. The below-listed point will give you an insight into the various other causes of air pollution.

\huge\bold\blue{↯}\green{Causes\: of \:Air \:Pollution\: In \:India:}

\huge\bold\pink{↬}Currently in India air pollution has drastically increased and is said to have grown more than the birth rate in the country. This is because of the increased number of vehicles in cities and burning of fuels. Also, outdated vehicles that are more than 10 years and do not possess a Fitness certificate of authority to be ridden on the road are actually left free.

\huge\bold\pink{↬}With the booming industrialization happening in the country, pollution is an avoided concept as most people believe in making more money instead of being equally being worried about their environment. Also, most people are chopping off trees and this adds more fuel to the devasting pollutants from settling around. Trees help in purifying the environment around us, but most landowners believe in accommodating every single bit of land he/she posses. The main cause of air pollution is the fact that there are many harmful particles such as sulphur dioxide and nitrogen dioxide that are said to cause harmful respiratory diseases.

Buring fossil fuel will release a lot of harmful gases into the air and cause smog. Smog refers to thick smoke hovering over a particular area and this affects people more easily. Some of the most devastating effects of air pollution can be viewed under the following points.

\huge\bold\blue{↬} Acidification:

Acidification refers to different chemical reactions creating acidic compounds which are said to cause harm to crops and buildings. Acidification also refers to sulfuric acid combining with tiny droplets of water and then showers acidic rain. When acid rain occurs, this can kill trees and harm animals, and the human and all that it falls on.

Once acid rain occurs, it will damage the chemical compounds found in the soil, thus making it unfit for future cultivation. This type of rain also changes the chemistry in water found in lakes, thus killing all fish and other aquatic life forms.

\huge\bold\blue{↬}2. Ozone Layer Toxication:

Some air pollutants can create poisonous gases directly in the ozone layer and this can affect people more quickly. Imagine the air you breath has smells of burning tyre, cigarettes and burning of wood. Wouldn’t that be very contaminating? Similarly, all of these pollutants get stuck in the ozone layer and can cause ozone layer depletion and other respiratory kinds of diseases.

Aor pollution occurs when harmful gases and chemicals get suspended in air.

Causes:-

  • Burning of fossil fuels and garbage.
  • Manufacturing industries release large amount of CO, hydrocarbons, organic compounds and chemicals into the air.
  • Certain natural events such as volcanic eruptions, forest fires, dust storms release large amount of smoke and CO.

Effects:-

  • Respiratory and heart problems like asthma, heart attack, etc.
  • Ozone layer is depleting due to the release of CFCs in the atmosphere.
  • Harmful gases in the atmosphere ( e.g. NO2, SO2 ) combines with water droplets and causes acid rain.

Preventive measures:-

  • Reduce the number of trips you take in your car.
  • Reduce or eliminate fireplace and wood stove use.
  • Avoid burning leaves, trash, and other materials.
