Climate change plays significant role in causing large scale floods in India.

Explanation:

  • Increased global warming has impacted on the Arabian sea as well. There is a drastic increase in of warming in the Arabian Sea which caused fluctuations of the monsoon in India.  
  • Inadequate infrastructure, unsatisfactory drainage system, poor maintenance of water reservoirs are the major causes for flood in India every year.  
  • Every year many human lives were lost due floods. For instance in the year of 2019, Kerala encountered the most severe flood. The effects of the flood were devastating as it took off 121 Human and uncountable animal lives and that had a huge drop in their economy.  
  • Some methods of control were in practice during the ancient times. Some of the methods are construction man-made channels to divert the overflowing water, construction of lakes, reservoirs and dams, retaining ponds to contain extra water during flood times.
  • Interlinking rivers can also prevent flood across India due to some apathy, implications and fear the project has been parked.
