The Revolt of 1857 was caused due to the unfair policies of British east India company towards the Indian rulers and Indian people. The Britishers who had first come to India in the name of trade had acceded some regions of India and were ruling over them, they had established their armies and had defeated Indian emperors. So this Revolt was simply caused by the introspection of Indian rulers about British policies. They understood the motto of britishers I.e to divide them and rule over them. so rulers like Bahadur shah zaffar, Rani of jhansi etc unified to Revolt against British rule.
