In general, employment syndrome is a human mentality that implies that an individual has no other option but to earn to money by working under or for someone else. Therefore, there is a dependency factor involved with this concept.
Explanation:
Main causes of employment syndrome:-
- Employment syndrome can commonly arise because of the social and cultural thought process in a particular country. In a predominantly socialist economy where the state or the official government controls and provides all the productive resources,factors/inputs of production and the employment opportunities, people can become accustomed with public sector jobs or working for government companies for almost their entire life.
- Lack of any proper infrastructure and economic environment to develop entrepreneurial mindset can also contribute to employment syndrome. This refers to administrative failure to ensure suitable economic atmosphere to set up independent businesses and self-conducted economic activities.
- Poor economic condition and economic downturn in any country can also lead to pessimism among people in general and discourage them for engaging in any risk taking behavior such as opening their own business or starting any entrepreneurial venture.Prolonged economic recession or depression can exacerbate such predicament.
- Many people generally become discouraged by loosing a job and give up trying or at least thinking about any alternative. They only conceive unemployment as the end and not the means to achieve any other objective.Such mentality often prevents entrepreneurial growth and progress in a country.Hence, high level of risk aversiveness and protective mindset can also induce employment syndrome.
