Water depletion means lack of unpolluted water in a particular region which is in demand.

Unpolluted refers to safe water which we can use for household purpose , drinking etc.

Main Causes of water Depletion were as follows:

  • First Main Cause is the Population Currently there are 1.2 billion people and use of freshwater is highly in demand which causes the shortage of water.
  • Second factors is climate change,natural calamities such as drought and floods etc.
  • Overuse/wastage of water unnecessarily.
  • Another cause of water depletion is more agricultural production.

Example:India is the World's largest exporter of rice and we know that rice required plenty of water for growing it means India supply millions of tons of water.

  • Another cause of water scarcity is water pollution.
  • Governmental Control :In some country goverment have control which uses water resource according to them.
  • Most important cause is Global Warming.The temperature of Earth's Surface rises which causes the water of rivers ,lakes evaporate.
  • Distance: Still people living in remote areas have to cover long distances to bring water.
