There were many causes for the second world war.
But the main causes were

1. The Versailles Treaty which imposed many unjust sanctions on the defeated nations of the First World war. The treaty suggested that the defeated country pay for the casualties of the war.
This treaty was mostly regarded towards Germany.

2. The Bad Financial status of Europe.
Every European nation blamed each other for the war and for the conditions of which arised after the war. This caused a feeling of hatred towards each other.

3. The Rise if Dictatorship in many nations was the key reason for the World War 2. Nations like Germany, Italy, Turkey, Japan were pulled into dictatorship.

4. Japanese expansion.
The rapidly rising status of Japan was not seen by many nations as healthy.

5. Appeasement.
As the Nazi and Fascist grew and the nations Germany and Italy started capturing nearby territory and also started building an army, European countries, being tired and not ready for a war, tried to keep peace through Appeasement. This meant that they tried to make Germany and Hitler happy rather than try to stop him. They hoped that by meeting his demands he would be satisfied and there wouldn't be any war. Unfortunately, the policy of appeasement backfired. It only made Hitler bolder. It also gave him time to build up his army.
