what are the cellular scavengers or demolition squads? what is their other common name and why are they called so

They serve as intracellular digestive system. Also, they destroy any foreign material that enters the cell such as pathogens. Since they remove cell debris, they are called scavengers of the cell. Lysosomes are called so because they remove the cellular debris.
