The central idea of the poem is many times in the life of a person comes two roads between which he has to opt for one. He has to make choice between them by using his for sight as both the roads will look same rewarding . Then it is very difficult for him to opt for one right as it will decide his success and failure.

The poet is standing at a point in the woods where the road forks into two. He finds it difficult to decide which road to take. To him both the roads were just as the same that particular day. He feels that the second road is has better outcomes than the first one.

At first he doubts his decision whether the decision of taking the second road is correct or not. He doubts his decision due to uncertainty. He is doubtful whether he would be able to come back to try the first road or not.
The poet wants to convey the message that we should take all decisions very carefully as one decision paves way for many other decisions in our life....
