For an election to be as free as possible it should encourage transparency. There needs to be an accounting of where the money is coming from and how much from each person. There needs to be open avenues for the views of the person seeking election to be heard, with no government constraint, other than that there be no incitement to either violence or the committing of a crime. The path of those seeking voters should be as free and open as possible.
For a fair election, the election rolls need to be as accurate as possible, there needs to be oversight by all parties as to how the votes are handled, counted, and deemed legal. There should be no argument as to the process, it needs to be open and above board, for a fair election to be exercised.
