Indian election system is not going to be improved anytime soon. Why do I feel so ? Okay let me elaborate-

I visited my father’s native village where my parents went to cast the vote. Fake vote casting was at its peak. Those who were not in village other people were casting their vote. People were hiding the ink mark using the nail paints and colours and casting votes again. If you are not yet 18 years old then you can also be used for casting someone’s vote who is not in village or died or got married(girls).
Many days before the election, leaders of particular parties start distributing money in slum areas and they basically buy the votes. Those who are poor they are happy to receive 5000 rupees per vote. Beer bottles, Wine bottles are also used for buying one’s vote. Illiterate, poor, drunkards are ready to vote the candidate who is providing them few bucks.
There is actually zero democracy in rural areas. There are basically two powerful parties in village areas and actual competition is among them. If seat is general then their family members are going to be candidates for the election, it seat is OBC/SC/ST , they will declare one of their puppet as candidate. That’s how it works!
My grandfather is a government employee. So once he was given the responsibility of organising voting booth in a particular village. He went their with a team of 4 or 5 members. In the night the school in which they were staying was surrounded by some goons who were armed and they demanded to surrender all the equipments related to the voting process. Now that’s how it works in rural areas of India. The distant, remote places of country has zero democracy!
