There are various challenges for free and fair electioms-

The prevent of dirty politics as candidates may play dirty to make their dreams and ambitions become reality.Prevention of muscle power, and stopping of ill practices of candidates to win elections. Such as buying of votes and getting advantage over other by using money.The election commission need to keep in mind that the candidates of higher status or class may not threaten or over power the candidates of lower sections of societies.Maintaining the technological standards,the recent cases of EVM exploits have created a route for the elections to be rigged

1. candidates and parties with a lot of money may not be sure of their victory but they do enjoy a big and unfair advantage over smaller parties and indepents
2. in some parts of the country candidates with criminal connection have been able to pusg others out of the electoral race and to secure a ticket from major parties
3. some families tend to dominate political parties
4.very often elections offer little choice to ordinary citizens for both the major parties are quite similar to each other both in policies and practice
5.smaller parties and independent candidates suffer a huge disadvantage compared to bigger parties
