Hey buddy here is your answer

The Act of 1956 bought about the following changes in Srilanka.

1. The Sinhalas opted a majoritarianism and declared sinhala as the official language this disregarding Tamil.

2. They opted a preferential treatment and gave university jobs to only Sinhalas and not to Tamils.

3. They also decided henceforth to protect and foster Buddhism.

Hope it helps
