The bones of adolescent boy and girl are elongated a lot, so it results in increase in height. Both attain their maximum height at 18 years. Usually, girls grows up faster than boys.
Changes occurs in body shape of both adolescent boy and girl. Boys' body becomes muscular and shoulders become wide. In girls, extra far is deposited below waist and body becomes curvy. And in both boys and girls sweat gland becomes very active and secretes more sweat.
In boys, the voice becomes very harsh and heavy. It becomes a short-pitched voice and voice box i.e. larnyx (Adam's apple) can be seen in neck region whereas in girls voice become shriller and high-pitched and Adam's apple is hardly visible.
Both girls and boys feel insecure, fear and sensitive in this period. The have more attention regarding their figure and look. The start taking much interest in opposite sex. Their mind, usually distracted towards many unwanted things or activities.
During this period, adolescents have greatest capacity to learn new things. They start thinking independently rather than dependently. So, this is the cause for conflict between them and elders.
In boys, sex organs like tested and penis develop and produce sperms which is required for reproduction. In girls, ovaries expand and released mature eggs or ova which is required for reproduction.
