First of all, what are adipose tissues ?
Ans - Adipose tissues are specialized forms of loose connective tissues in which, fibroblasts are modified the storage of fats.
The characteristics of Adipose tissues are as follows :-
- Adipose tissue consists of large, spherical or oval cells, called "Fat cells" or "Adipocytes".
- Adipocytes secrete the hormone "Leptin" they is involved in the regulation of appetite.
- Adipose tissues are found beneath the skin, around the Kidneys and bone marrow.
- Adipose tissues are poor conductors of heat.
- Adipose tissues act as "Thermal insulators" in the bodies of organisms.
- There are two types of adipose tissues - (i) White adipose tissues, (ii) Brown adipose tissues
- White adipose tissues are "Monolocular" in nature.
- Brown adipose tissues are "Multilocular" in nature.
