When we throw a ball on the floor, it bounces back. This is an example of elastic collision where both momentum and kinetic energy are conserved. The collision between the atoms is also an example of elastic collision. The collision between two billiard balls is an example of elastic collision.

During a collision , if the Kinetic energy and the linear momentum of the system is conserved (Value beforecollision is equal to value aftercollision), then the collision is known as Elastic Collision. Some of thecharacteristics of elastic collision are: There will not be any loss in Kinetic Energy.
