What are the characteristics tha make the chc a serious threat t the ecosystem. Give examoles?

Explanation:
Chlorinated hydrocarbons are organic molecules characterized by the presence of atleast one chlorine atom bonded to a carbon atom. Compounds which contain these molecules have wide range of uses, from making cookware to creating industrial solvents. Vinyl chloride for example is manufactured in large amounts to produce PVC pipe and other materials. Likewise CHC are also manufactured to produce pesticides, solvents, precursor to various industrial processes, coatings, polymers and synthetic rubber products.
CHC are also naturally present in number of animals and sometimes appear as byproducts of events like fires. The issue with CHC is that they can pose a threat to human and environmental health. If released into environment they can cause sickness, birth defects and other problems. These problems may not be readily apparent. The pesticide DDT, for example is made with CHC and while it initially appeared to be safe, scientist later realized that it endangered bird population by weakening the shells of eggs, making it less likely for embryos to survive hatching.
Thus the products made with CHC should not be poured down the drains or released in streets. Companies which manufacture these chemicals must do so with care to avoid accidentally releasing them into environment
