. The cells may be spherical, oval, polygonal or rectangular.
. Cell wall is thin and made up of cellulose.
. cytoplasm is dense, vacuoles are small or absent.
. Nucleus is prominent and centrally located.
. The cells divide repeatedly throught the life of a plant adding to the size of the plant.
. Newly formed cells differentiate to form different types of cells of permanent tissues.
