Boron is the first element in Group 13 (IIIA) of the periodic table.It exists as a dark brown to black amorphous powder or as an extremely hard, jet-black to silver-gray, brittle, lustrous, metal-like element.The most important use of boron is still in glass manufacture.The chemical properties of boron are more similar to carbon and silicon than elements of its own group, although boron is more electron deficient
