What are the climatic conditions required for the growth of cotton and jute in India?

COTTON:
It has been called Universal fibre. It is the leading fibre crop of India. It forms the basis of the cotton textile industry. In India cotton has been used since 3000 BCE.
CLIMATIC CONDITIONS FOR GROWTH OF COTTON:
1.TEMPERATURE; It needs high summer temperature between 22° C to 32° C. It also requires bright sunshine. Frost is harmful to the cotton plant.
2. RAINFALL : cotton needs light to moderate rainfall between 50 to 100 cm.
3. IRRIGATION : In arid areas irrigation is used. It increases the yield per hectare in Punjab.
4. SOILS : cotton grows well on well drained loamy soil or lava soils

JUTE:
Jute is an industrial fibre.It is also called Golden fibre. It is used for making carpets,ropes, covers and linoleum. It is used for packing many agricultural commodities. Jute is called ‘Brown Paper of Wholesale trade’. Jute fibre has softness, strength and length.
CLIMATIC CONDITION FOR GROWTH OF JUTE:
1.TEMPERATURE: It requires uniformly high temperature 27°C throughout the year.
2. RAINFALL: Jute requires well distributed heavy rainfall 150 cm.
3. SOIL: It is grown on floodplains and delta's. Fertilizers are also used.
4. CLEAN WATER: Jute needs and ample supply of clean water for washing.
