the colours of rainbow is vibigyor and they came byA rainbow is a meteorological phenomenon that is caused by reflection, refraction and dispersion of light in water droplets resulting in a spectrum of light appearing in the sky. It takes the form of a multicoloured arc. Rainbows caused by sunlight always appear in the section of sky directly opposite the sun.

The colours of rainbow are VIBGYOR
V-VIOLET
I-INDIGO
B-BLUE
G-GREEEN
Y-YELLOW
R-RED
Rainbow is a naturally spectrum(a group of wave lenghts)occuring in the sky
It is formed just after a rain shower. When the Sun is in the sky,the rain droplets fall on ground. So,when the droplets fall, the rays of sunlight scatter through the drops.
Already we know that white colour is dispersed into 7 clolours as VIBGYOR
So,when the rays scatter the drops, the white colour in the drop scatter into seven different colurs called VIBGYOR.
Then the rainbow is formed.
Please note that red colour has longest wave length and violet has longest wavelength.
Wavelength is nothing but the distance between successive crests of a wave, especially points in a sound wave or electromagnetic wave.
