1.Automotive designs: Here the sub areas are numerous -

crash simulations, which are done to see if improved car metal or materials have improved the safety of the occupants? Increasingly these days, they are also being used to protect certain components, such as batteries (in electric vehicles or EV) so that the chemicals do NOT spill out on puncture or such like

2. Aviation uses:

Aircraft engines, different from automotive and very complex.


3.Biomedical uses:

New Drug designs, simulate the chemical reactions


4.Energy/Nuclear industry:

The future (may be a long wait but still worth it) of the fusion reactor. We cannot build one and test it, so it has to be simulated to find feasible designs and thus pursue or economically choose the best path instead of the possible thousands of combinations.

5.Weather applications:
Use of the supercomputer weather simulations for aircraft flights: In the early days the US Air Force figured out if they could guide their planes around troublesome weather at those high altitude, the savings in fuel expended itself paid for the system in as little as a  few months!
