Maps are the primary tools by which spatial relationships and geographic data are visualized.

✔The major components are:-

The Map Title- tells you what the map is all about. In this case the map title is located in the upper left hand corner.

The Legend/Key- The legend show you what all of the different symbols on the map mean. The state capital is a dark circle with a ring around it.

⭐We know that major towns are marked by a red circle.

The Compass Rose- The compass rose which is located in the upper right hand corner of this map tell us directions. In this case the compass is symbol and only tells you the direction of the north, which is more than enough.

Scale- This map is lacking a clear scale, it informs you that the map is not to scale. A scale will show you actual distance between two places, or the size of a place. (ex. 1 inch equal 1 mile).

Grid lines- this map is also lacking lines of latitude and longitude which show you absolute location.
