The Octet Rule requires all atoms in a molecule to have 8 valence electrons--either by sharing, losing or gaining electrons--to become stable. For Covalent bonds, atoms tend to share their electrons with each other to satisfy the Octet Rule

Answer:

{\huge{\sf{\red{\underline{\underline{ ÅÑSWËR}}}}}}

condition \: for \: the \: formation \: of \: the \: covalent \: bond

  1. Both the atoms should have high electronegativity.
  2. Both the atom should have high electron affinity.
  3. Both the atom should have high ionization energy.
  4. Both the atom should have four or more electrons in outermost shells I..e non-metals.
  5. They electronegativity difference between the combining atoms should either be zero or negligible.

As we move across the Electrovalent Character of chlorine ,oxides,etc decreases.
