Temperature: The ideal temperature for the cultivation of sugarcane is 27°Celsius.Rainfall: 100 cm to 175 cm rainfall is ideal for sugarcane production. In tropical and sub-tropical or regions sugarcane is grown abundantly due to the lengthening of the period of rainy season. Frost is injurious to sugarcane.

The favourable conditions for the growth of sugarcane are :
i) Temperature : Ideal temperature for growth of sugarcane ranges approximately from 20℃ - 30℃.
ii) Rainfall : Sufficient water is needed for growth of sugarcane and thus a rainfall of 100-150 cm is required
iii) Land : Well drained sloping land is suitable for sugarcane cultivation.
iv) Soil : Sugarcane grows best in fertile loamy soil, black soil and alluvial soil. It does not grow on alkaline soil.
v) Labour : It is a labour intensive method of cultivation. So labourers are needed for cultivation of sugarcane.
