The conditions for combustion to take place are as follows :-

(i) Flammable environment or presence of air or oxygen.

The first condition should be the presence of a flammable environment. Only then will the substance catch fire .

(ii) Ignition temperature .

The minimum ignition temperature should be crossed in order to catch fire.

For example : paper would not catch fire if the ignition temperature of paper is not sufficient .

(iii) Presence of flammable material .

Fuel or any flammable substance should be present for efficient combustion.

These are the conditions for combustion to take place.
