To stop a combustion reaction, one of the three elements of the fire triangle must be removed. Without sufficient heat, a fire cannot begin, and it cannot continue. Heat can be removed by the application of a substance which reduces the amount of heat available to the fire reaction.

First of all, let's see the conditions under which combustion takes place .

Fuel is needed

Oxygen is required

⇒ Ignition temperature should be reached .

☆ So, if any One thing is removed combustion won't take place .

⇒ With no fuel there will be no combustion too .

⇒ No oxygen. By cutting off the supply of oxygen, combustion can be ceased .

  • By covering the flames with any thick blankets stops the oxygen supply .

⇒ Reducing the temperature.

  • By pouring water. But not for the flames that are caused due to oils and electricity.
  • Via using Extinguisher
