Almost every country in the world has social diversities in respect to caste, race, religion, language, etc. Democracy is considered to be the most suitable form of government to accommodate these diversities.

- Caste created economic inequality, the untouchable class was denied the right to own land, the right to education. These have been outlawed, but new kinds of inequalities have developed.
- But caste has not totally disappeared form present day India.
