let 'x' represent some multiple of 3, then x+3 represents the next consecutive multiple of 3

57 = x + x+3

54 = 2x

x = 54/2 = 27

27+3=30

the numbers are 27 and 30

Given,

Two consecutive multiples of 3 have a sum = 57

To find,

The two numbers.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem using the following process:

Let us assume that the two consecutive multiples of 3 are x and x+3, respectively.{Since two consecutive multiples of any number "n" have a difference of n}

Now, according to the question;

The sum of the two consecutive multiples of 3 = 57

=> (x) + (x+3) = 57

=> 2x = 54

=> x = 27

So, the two required consecutive multiples of 3 are x and x+3, that is 27 and 30, respectively.
