A concave mirror is similar to a convex lens. It converges the light rays falling on its surface. ait has a focal point, the point at which all the light rays, form an infinite distance and parallel to its axis are converged. Of the object is beyond the focal point of the mirror it will form a real image which will be always on the same side as the object. The image distance varies as the position of the object changes. It forms an image behind itself only when an object is placed closer than its focal point. In this case the image is virtual. For a rear view mirror, the object can be anywhere in front of the mirror. Using a concave mirror is not convenient in such case.

A convex mirror, on the contrary, always forms an image behind itself, its a virtual image, is vertical and always smaller than the object.

Hello dear your answer

if convex mirror are used in a rear view mirror in Vechile the image of objects beyond the focal length would be inverted we are not used to seeing inverted image.
