The content areas of 'social science' and 'political Life' in our social sciences curriculum at upper primary level includes three teaching learning areas, namely, 'history', 'geography' and 'social and political life'. At upper primary level, the area 'social and political science' replaced the area 'civics' in present social science curriculum.

Social Science is a subject that studies about the society and social relationships .


Primary level -


Social science is a part of "Environmental Studies" for primary classes . Students learn about the society around them through environmental science at this level.


Upper primary level -


Social science deals with different branches such as geography, history , political life, and economics at this level. These subjects helps to develop required skills to deal with the political and economic realities.


Pedagogy -


Pedagogy is the method and practice of teaching. It refers to the interaction between teachers and students . There are different kinds of students so , teachers shape their teaching methods by the "theories of learning" to teach their students in a better way.
