Conventional methods of irrigation are those methods which are most commonly or traditionally used for irrigating. Some examples are:

1. Pulley system: It is also known as the moat system. In it, water is drawn with the help of pulley from a well to irrigate. It requires a lot of time and labour.

2. Dhekli: It is similar to pulley system but instead of pulley a pole is used. At one end a bucket is tied and at the other some weight for counter balance.

3. Rahat: A large wheel is placed above the well which is turned with the help of an animal like ox to draw water from the well
