(-2 , 3) is point of intersection  of the lines x + 3y = 7 and 2x +y = -1

Step-by-step explanation:

x  + 3y  =  7      Eq1

2x  + y  = -  1    Eq2

2 * Eq1

=> 2x  + 6y  = 14     Eq3

Eq3 - Eq2

=> (2x + 6y) - (2x + y)  = 14 - (-1)

=> 5y = 15

=> y = 3

=> x + 3(3) = 7

=> x = - 2

(-2 , 3) is point of intersection

x y      y

-8 5 15

-5 4 9

-2 3 3

1 2 -3

4 1 -9

7 0 -15
