■it must have a good califoric value.
■it must be under the budget of common man ie economical.
■it must be easily stored.
■it should be renewable and must be obtained easily.

Following are the criteria should be followed while selecting a fuel:
. It should burn easily.
. It should burn steadily.
. The fuel should produce sufficient energy.
. It should be available in plenty.
. Its storage should be easy and safe.
. Its transportation should be easy and safe.
. On burning, the fuel should not pollute the air.
. The fuel, after burning, should not leave behind much residue.
. The fuel should not be expensive.
