The activities include Ekta carnival, Sanskruti Mahostav, translation of books from Odia to Marathi and vice-versa, culinary classes of Odia and Marathi dishes, tour by university students of each State, pairing tour operators from both the States for visits, school tours, inter exchange of agricultural practices, combined tableau of Odisha and Maharashtra and combined film festivals.

There would also be exchange in education and agriculture sectors so that each State would benefit from the best practices and experience of the other.

The Tourism Department will be nodal department for the year-long activities.

Hope this helps you

The cultural similarities between Odisha and Maharashtra:

  • In both Odisha and Maharashtra, there is a vital role of festivals and the people there celebrate all occasions and give importance to every festival which occurs throughout the year.
  • In Odisha, there is a festival called Lord Jagannath Rath Yatra which is only celebrated in Odisha and is now celebrated in both places with complete enjoyment.
  • The dialect which the people in Odisha and Maharashtra has taken from the Sanskrit language. But the similarities in food are completely different in both the states. The women wear saree in both the states and men used to wear dhoti but, in Maharashtra, men usually use kurta and dhoti and in Odisha, men used to wear dhoti without kutra.
