Damping pads made of rubber or silicone can reduce vibrations considerably. The spot where these damping pads are to be fixed, should be ascertained correctly for best results. Usually it is between the machine mount and the foundation.

Springs, proper lubrication and maintenance are other options to minimise vibration in mechanical systems.

Vibrations may occur due to ‘imbalance’ in machine parts or due to misalignment of parts.
